Uncharted, the new movie starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, scored big this weekend by earning a $51M opening in the US. The video game adaptation beat expectations and will likely gross $139 million worldwide by the end of the long weekend. With several big-budget movies falling short recently (Moonfall, The 355) at the box office, this was a big win that likely had to do with Tom Holland’s stardom. The budget for Uncharted is reportedly $120 million so the movie is already making a profit after the long weekend.
Uncharted is about Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) teaming up to find the lost treasure of Magellan. Lots of action and chaos ensues.
The movie, directed by Ruben Fleischer, also features Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali, and Tati Gabrielle.
